Week in Review #3 + Friday Favorites

Here we are, at the end of another week and time for our Week in Review and Friday Favorites! I had some extra time off this week for Spring Break, and it sure was a welcome break from the normal craziness! I got in a few extra workouts, prepped a couple more meals than normal, and was able to spend a little more time with my family! We’re linking up with Heather today to join in on the Friday Favorite Fun!

Friday (Caitlin)- We spent our evening at the Houston Rodeo, eating and jamming out to Darius Rucker/Hootie and the Blowfish! I love Darius, but wasn’t sure what to expect from his concert. He knocked it out of the park by playing a healthy mix of his new music and his vintage Hootie and the Blowfish tunes! My husband and I went with our close friends, and we decided to partake in the once a year fried food fest. We started with burgers and fries which were great! Nothing beats a juicy burger and some warm, salty fries! Next up, the fried food. On the menu: Fried oreos, fried cheesecake and gasp….fried butter! I cringed as i put the fried butter in my mouth, but it actually wasn’t too bad. I will definitely be knocking that off the bucket list, and won’t be eating that one regularly. Now the fried cheesecake, that may be another story…yum!

Sunday (Caitlin)- We took a road trip our to Old Baylor Park in Brenham, TX with some friends to see the wildflowers. We snapped a few (ok, a lot) of pictures of the kiddos, and enjoyed the warm weather and sunshine! We stopped in Downtown Brenham for lunch at a cute cafe, 96 West. The group got some appetizers to share, which were promptly consumed before i could snap a picture! I went with the Texas beet and goat cheese salad. It was excellent!

Monday (Caitlin)- We checked out a new-to-us play place in Katy, Monkey Joes. It is an indoor facility with numerous inflatable jumping castles/obstacle courses/slides. There are a few geared toward younger kids and the rest are for older kids. This was a great way to spend a couple hours, in the AC, and leave with a tired toddler! I didn’t snap any pics, but if you’re in the Katy area and looking for a way to wear out your kiddos, this is a great place!

Tuesday (Caitlin)- Trader Joes Run! Some of my favorites- black bean pasta, multi grain bread, power to the greens salad mix, and mini dark chocolate bars (100 calories each!)

Wednesday (Caitlin)- This amazing creation came to life with the help of Joe the Trader! I was so excited to try out their new black bean pasta and decided just to follow their recipe on the back of the package. It was quick, easy and delicious! Simply add their fire roasted pepper and onion mix, shrimp, Alfredo sauce, garlic and some parmesan cheese in a pan, and mix with the cooked pasta!

Thursday (Caitlin)- Lunch at Ruggles Green in City Centre. I have a few standard meals I usually stick to here, but decided to branch out and try their “Super Veggie Tacos”. Three corn tortillas with a black bean spread, portobello mushrooms, corn salsa, cabbage, carrots and queso fresco- DELICIOUS!

Beachbody’s Hammer and Chisel Workout- I just started this program this week and am in love with it! The workouts are relatively short, but super effective! I have done many Beachbody workouts in the past, but have never really completed a program with the workout schedule they suggest. Im giving this one a try, and will let you know how it goes!

Springtime Starbucks drink: Decaf Americano with 2 pumps mocha–YUM! I have officially switched over to iced drinks with the warm weather we have been having, and this one just does the trick with just enough sweetness!

Fresh Flowers: Trader Joes has the BEST flowers for the BEST prices! I picked up a small bunch this week just to have on the counter, and there is just something about fresh flowers that make me happy!

Thats all we have for today! See you next week!
